Albemarle Co. Mobile Home Community to See Improvements
Southwood Mobile Home Community
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -
Improvements to Albemarle County’s Southwood Mobile Home Community are underway and a new plan is coming together after three years of planning.
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville's executive director updated county supervisors on the project Wednesday night. The upgrades include new lighting, roads, and plumbing.
Habitat says a plan for redevelopment is in the works.
“Now, we're taking that next step and working side by side with the residents to come up with a plan for redevelopment that creates permanent housing without displacing a single person at Southwood,” said Dan Rosensweig, Habitat for Humanity executive director.
Redevelopment plans will need to be approved by supervisors.
The project will take multiple years to complete.
