Lucia Hoerr has been running BBCV out of her garage since 2010. With the help of community sponsors, she has put together more than a 1,000 backpacks in the past seven years.
Hoerr hopes to break a record this year by filling 425 backpacks with notebooks, crayons, and school supplies for children in need.
“They're prepared so they can go into the first day of school. And they're no different, they're no less than any of the other kids and they have everything they need to be prepared for the school year. So it really just sets them at that level with everyone else so that they can really achieve and do well in school and not be worried about not having any supplies," said Hoerr.
The backpacks will go to refugee families, the Boys and Girls Club, and children in need.
Hoerr will be doing a big backpack stuffing day on August 16.
