A start-up tech company in downtown Charlottesville is making headlines.

WillowTree is taking the 29th spot in Fortune Magazine’s list of 100 Best Workplaces for Millennials.

About 70 percent of WillowTree employees qualify as a Millennial, which is anyone born between 1980 and 2000.

The company’s headquarters on 5th Street SE could be described as looking like a cross between a college dorm room and a café.

"I think having such an open environment where people can work on couches, or down in the kitchen, and having all this free food and free coffee really allows for kind of a fun work environment. It's not a cubicle," said software engineer Emily Seibert.

The 23-year-old employee says that working for a young company encourages interactions outside of work which boosts the team's creativity.

WillowTree also ranked No. 48 in another Fortune Magazine list looking at the 50 Best Workplaces for New College Grads.
