CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Friday night, photographers in Charlottesville debuted their work on the Downtown Mall for the LOOK3 Festival of the Photograph.

Friday night, people could visit all six of the exhibits for a free soft opening and reception. The festival celebrates the different styles and subjects of six different photographers. The festival officially opens next Wednesday.

The goal of the festival is to use provocative photos to unite the community around issues shaping our world.

“It was started by Nick Nichols, who's a local National Geographic photographer. Nick started the festival in his back yard back in the mid 2000's and it's just grown and grown every year,” says Christian Debaun, LOOK3 volunteer coordinator.

LOOK3 will host talks and book signings with some of the artists and photographers.

People can also have their own images printed and displayed at City Space.
