Because bees pollinate many of those allergy-causing plants, Swanson says honey that is local to where you live might help keep you immune to those annoying symptoms.
And he says it also has several other health benefits, like being a great substitute for white sugar.
"When you eat it, you're not just fueling yourself with a sugar high; you're actually getting some nutrients along with it," says Michael Swanson, beekeeper.
Swanson says honey is also good for sore throats, and even treating open wounds.
