Several Central Virginia high school football players were recognized Sunday night at The Falcon Club's annual awards Banquet.
Monticello HS running back Kyree Koonce won the MVP for the public schools. STAB quarterback Lee Parkhill won the MVP for the private schools. Parkhill quarterbacked the Saints to the state championship game. Koonce rushed for over 1,600 yards and 22 touchdowns last year.
Koonce says, "This is a big honor for me to win this, being able to come back from an injury like I did last year and then struggle at the beginning of this season. Just to come out here and finish strong and be able to win some cool accolades, it's a cool accomplishment for me."
Parkhill says, "It means a lot to me, we had a rough season a couple year ago and to be able to come back here and be so successful it means a lot to me. I had a lot of people who helped me out along the way."
