Central VA Students Show Inventions at Innovation Expo

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Students in Charlottesville and Albemarle County got to show off their creations and inventions at the first ever Innovation Expo Friday.

The University of Virginia Innovation Lab held the event.

The event was also a kick off for the Public Education Fund of Charlottesville Albemarle.

Nick Anglin, a 7th-grade student and entrepreneur, made waves with his invention Strikey Sensors.

"You pitch and it goes through. It has to break one laser on the bottom and one laser across and you get a strike. Light turns on green, you got a strike, red, not a strike, ball," said Anglin.

The president of PEF says they plan to make the expo an annual event to focus the community on keeping these innovative programs in public schools.
