Tom Sox Chosen as Name of Charlottesville's New VBL Team

Charlottesville's new Valley League baseball team will be called the Charlottesville Tom Sox.    The team's color scheme will be blue, green and gray.

The team name was revealed Tuesday morning at a press conference at Charlottesville-Albemarle Airport.   The name Tom Sox was chosen over three other finalists, Presidents, Sabres, and Vines in part of a "name the team contest".

The name Tom Sox reflect's Charlottesville's history as the home of President Thomas Jefferson.

Tom Sox general manager, Joe Koshansky says he likes the name, "It kind of blends the history of baseball with the history of this area, its unique, I think our graphics and logo are pretty cool, I think our colors are nice, they'll complement well in the league, all and all I'm very happy with this name."

The Tom Sox will begin play in the summer of 2015.   Their home games will be played at Charlottesville High School.
