CROZET, Va. (WVIR) -
Dozens of people came out to Mudhouse Coffee Shop in Crozet Sunday to taste different pies while supporting the community's fire department.
9 bakers put their skills to the test in the 4th Annual Pie Fest. The winner was a savory pie called the "Fig an Pig", made with pork and a duck fat infused crust.
Pie Fest Organizer Marijean Jaggers said, "It snowballs. People start to hear about it, we try to do it the same time every year so the people know to expect it and it's just a bigger and bigger community. People will come and do the tasting's and they'll remember it for next year."
Pie Taster Audrey Oldhin-Gresser said, "When my dad was driving us out, there was a lot of traffic and he was like is everybody going to Pie Fest? So there was a lot of traffic getting out here, but it's fun."
Sunday's event raised about $200 for the Crozet volunteer fire department.
