Noise Analysis Released on Indoor Gun Range

Posted: Updated:
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -

A noise analysis of gunfire of a planned police firearms training range in Albemarle County suggests neighbors will barely hear the bullets flying. A Florida consultant released an acoustical analysis for the future indoor range on Milton Road, not too far from Keswick.

The report estimates gunfire noise at a sound level of 45 decibels or less at the nearest home. The consultant says that's about as loud as distant traffic or wind rustling leaves in trees.

Officers from Albemarle, Charlottesville, and the University of Virginia will share the $4 million to $5 million facility once it's built.
