UVa Women's Soccer Records Third Straight Shut Out
Mackenzy Doniak scored two goals and had one assist in UVa's 5-0 shut out
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
The No. 3 Virginia women's soccer team blanked Villanova 5-0, wrapping up their three game home stand from Klöckner Stadium with their third straight shut out.
Junior forwards Makenzy Doniak and Brittany Ratcliffe provided a spark for Virginia in the second half.
Both Ratcliffe, and Doniak combined to score three goals in a 15-minute span.
Junior Kaili Torres and first-year Veronica Latsko also tallied goals for the team, which has outscored their opponents 12-0 through the first three contests.
Doniak says the team is starting to gel after playing these last three games together.
"I think up top we're definitely getting great passes with each other..our chemistry has definitely increased. Even with these short three games we've had. In practice we're always playing together always practicing together."
Ratcliffe says these early games help to provide a blueprint for where the team is at.
"Its good that we're getting our wins in at the same time we're seeing what we need to work on cause there is always room for improvement and these games can definitely show what we need to work on cause its still early in the season."
Virginia is on the road at Alabama for a Friday night game in Tuscaloosa, which starts at 8 p.m.
