UPDATE 8/25/2014: The Augusta County Sheriff's Office has released the IDs of both people killed in an apparent murder-suicide - Roger Giggey, Jr., 57,  and Diane Napoleone, 56.

A 25-year-old man with a mental illness is now without a mother after Augusta County Sheriff's deputies say her boyfriend shot and killed her and then turned the gun on himself at a single family home in the 100 Block of Oak Crest Drive in Verona.

The Sheriff's Office has not released the names of the man and woman involved, but we do know that the woman's 25-year-old son was in the home when the shooting happened. He reported the incident to police Thursday night.

Investigators say a 56-year-old man and woman were found dead from gunshot wounds inside the master bedroom. Augusta County Sheriff Randall Fisher says they believe the female victim has been dead since Sunday or Monday and the male victim died Tuesday night.

The two were not related, but living together.

A weapon was recovered at the scene and, for now, investigators are calling it a murder-suicide.

"At this point, the 25-year-old son is not a suspect. Not suspected of doing anything other than delaying the report of the situation,” said Fisher.

Deputies say they had been over to the house many times for domestic dispute and public intoxication incidents.
