'Free Food Fest' to Focus on Agriculture without Government Interference

Posted: Updated:

An upcoming conference in Staunton is working to educate people on how to eat food without government interference.

Food Freedom Fest is a forum that celebrates freedom of choice in agriculture. The two-day event includes more than a dozen speakers and roundtable discussions about food freedom.

There's also an evening street fair in downtown Staunton with local vendors and live music that will honor Joel Salatin of Polyface Farms. Salatin says there's a proliferation of food regulation

"It has now become safe to feed your kids Twinkies and Cocoa Puffs and Mountain Dew - but not raw milk, compost-grown tomatoes, and Aunt Matilda's quiche,” Salatin said.

Food Freedom Fest takes place September 5 and 6 at the Stonewall Jackson Hotel and Polyface Farms.
