UPDATE: Driver Charged with DUI after Fatal Accident in Albemarle

Albemarle County police are investigating a fatal accident along Route 250 near Afton Mountain Thursday night around 6:30 p.m.

According to the Albemarle County Police Department, two vehicles and a tractor-trailer were involved in the crash. The circumstances are still under investigation.

Donovan James Webster, 55 of Charlottesville, was arrested and charged with DUI. He was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash. Police say Webster could face additional charges. 

Wayne Thomas White, 75 of Waynesboro, was killed in the crash. He was driving the other vehicle involved in the accident.

Route 250 near the intersection with Route 151 was closed for several hours and drivers were advised to find alternate routes while crews were on scene. The accident remains under investigation.

Webster is scheduled to appear in court Friday afternoon for a bond hearing.

The Albemarle County Police Department is investigating a fatal crash which occurred on Thursday, August 14th 2014.

The crash occurred at 6:27 pm in the 9600 block of the Rockfish Gap Turnpike or Rt. 250 near Rt. 151 by Afton. Two vehicles and a tractor trailer were involved in the crash. At this time, the circumstances of the crash remain under investigation.

Donovan James Webster, 55 years old from Charlottesville, was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving Under the Influence. He could be facing additional charges, pending further investigation. Donovan was driving one of the vehicles involved in the crash.

The driver of the other vehicle, Wayne Thomas White, was killed in the crash. White was 75 years old and from Waynesboro.

The driver of the tractor trailer is not facing any charges related to the crash.

Donovan will be in court this afternoon for his bond hearing. The crash remains under investigation by the Crash Reconstruction Team.
