Smoke Mizzell Looking for Breakout Sophomore Season
UVa sophomore running back Taquan "Smoke" Mizzell has plenty to prove this season. He injured his ankle in the second game of the season last year and was never fully healthy during his freshman season.
Mizzell was a five star recruit out of Virginia Beach. He rushed for 184 yards last season and had 164 receiving yards. He had one touchdown against Miami.
He earned the nickname Smoke at Bayside high school because of his speed and elusive moves. Now he's hoping to show folks why he was such a highly touted recruit coming out of high school.
Mizzell says, "Only being able to have one healthy game under my belt, I feel like nobody really knows what I can do yet besides high school so I feel I have a lot to prove and a lot to show. I feel like being healthy and having fun out there everything else will take care of itself. I feel like I have the physical ability to get the job done.
UVa head coach Mike London says, "I believe he's special and he'll get every opportunity to help this team win".
Virginia kicks off the season August 30th at Scott Stadium against 7th ranked UCLA.
