Valley Children’s Camp Focuses on Helping Community
STAUNTON, Va. (WVIR) -
A big group of children is getting out to help the community in Staunton this week.
Along with three other churches, the First Presbyterian Church in Staunton is hosting a week-long camp. Campers are taking part in a number of activities, but most of them are going toward helping others.
They delivered baked goods to the Police Department and sang at the Staunton Senior Center. Organizers say the whole theme of the week is lending a helping hand.
"The main thing they're learning is to love their neighbor, and that is our key verse for this week, to love your neighbor and they're learning that on so many levels,” said camp organizer Betty Richmond.
This is the second year of the camp, which runs through Thursday.
