A Group of Actors Brings Free Shakespeare Show to the Belmont Park

A group of actors is bringing the bard's works to a neighborhood park near you in Charlottesville.

The nonprofit Hamner Theater troupe put on a free Shakespeare show at Belmont Park Sunday night in cooperation with Charlottesville Parks and Recreation.

They presented "Much Ado about Nothing" for the crowd. The actors say their favorite part of these summer performances is sharing their love of Shakespeare with the community.

Actor Daniel Angell said, "We've had a couple shows where there were children who were just playing in parks right behind us and they stopped to come and watch us perform Shakespeare, and it was clear they had never seen Shakespeare before, but you know it's sort of introducing, introducing people to something that they might not otherwise take the time out to go do."

The group will perform in Washington Park next Sunday August 17.   Click here for a full schedule of performances.
