Charlottesville Band Battling for Spot in Lockn' Music Festival Lineup
Erin & The Wildfire
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
One Charlottesville band is gearing up to compete for a spot in this year's Lockn' Music Festival lineup. The group is asking for your support on Saturday to help win this ticket to the big stage in Nelson County.
Erin & The Wildfire - known for its soul, blues, and funk tunes - is made up of four graduates from the University of Virginia. They are hoping this performance on home turf will bring enough votes to launch them to the top.
The group will be facing off against three bands from Richmond in the Rockn' to Lockn' Finale at the Jefferson Theater.
Audience members at Saturday night's showdown will get to vote for which central Virginia troupe they want to take home the grand prize.
Lead vocalist Erin Lunsford says performing at the Lockn' Music Festival in September would be a big step for the band's career.
She said, “Playing at Lockn' would be a huge break for us just because there's such a huge built-in crowd. Just having our name on the bill would amazing for promotion for our band. It would be a big deal for us to get to go to Lockn'.”
Erin & The Wildfire have been together for about two years now. Lunsford says they've recently signed with a label and manager.
Doors open at the Jefferson Theater on Saturday for the event at 8:00 p.m. The show starts promptly at 8:45 p.m.
Tickets cost $8 in advance and $10 at the door. Lunsford suggests buying tickets online as soon as possible because the last show in this challenge almost sold out.
