Building Goodness Foundation to Host Battle of the Bands

Friday, August 1, 2014 – Building Goodness Foundation (BGF), a Charlottesville-based nonprofit that provides construction services for communities at home and abroad, announces its annual Battle of the Bands and the return of the Rockin' Auction on Friday, September 19 from 7:00-11:00 p.m. at The Jefferson Theater. Proceeds from the event will support BGF’s construction projects to support health care, housing, and ecological and economic development in Virginia, the Caribbean, Central America, and West Africa.

Advance ticket sales begin today, August 1, 2014. Through August 18, advance tickets will be available online (www.buildinggoodness.org/tickets) and at Charlottesville-area retails locations for $99. Beginning August 19, tickets will be $150. Retail locations include Atlas Coffee, The Jefferson Theater, Loring Woodriff Real Estate Associates, and Lynne Goldman Elements.

Local bands performing and competing at the event will be the Will Overman Band (sponsored by Virginia National Bank), Curtis Prince & the Creative Department (sponsored by Crutchfield), Rice & Beans (sponsored by Martin Horn and Riverbend Development), and Lord Nelson. Votes for the winning band are donations to BGF – and the public can vote for their favorite band in advance of the event by visitingwww.buildinggoodness.org/tickets.

The Rockin' Auction will feature construction- and home renovation-themed items, including a one-of-a-kind treehouse, an extreme garden shed, a custom-built outdoor kitchen, a Costa Rican travel adventure, and a ti-kay, a replica of the small homes that BGF constructs in Haiti. For the first time ever, BGF will also host a silent auction as part of the event, featuring items such as a West Palm Beach vacation, kitchen remodel, and more.
