CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -

Monticello High School alum Ben King finished 53rd out of 164 riders in the 101st Tour de France.

The 2007 MHS grad was riding in the Tour for the first time in his career, and had the highest finish of any member of his team, Garmin-Sharp.

King finished the three week event in 92h 41' 05'', which is 02h 41' 59'' behind winner Vincenzo Nibali.

King is the first cyclist from the commonwealth of Virginia to finish the Tour de France, and was the fourth fastest American in this year's race.
