Second Community Meeting Held on Albemarle Firing Range
ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WVIR) -
Plans for a new firearms training facility in Albemarle County are slowly coming into focus.
Thursday was the second of three community meetings about the new range, which will allow Charlottesville, Albemarle and University of Virginia police to train together.
Thursday night, a basic footprint was revealed. The site off Milton Road will include two eight-lane ranges and an administrative building. Planners say they are confident about sound isolation and the view.
"The way we have it on the site it will not be visible from Milton Road. It's really enclosed by the tree canopy,” said Trevor Henry, director of facilities development for Albemarle County.
The county is still looking for feedback from the community. The next public meeting is scheduled for August 28.
