Weaver Leads Charlottesville City Championship After Second Day
Hunter Weaver shoots a 67 in the second day at Meadowcreek
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
First-round leader Hunter Weaver fired a four-under par 67 in the second round of the Charlottesville City Championship at Meadowcreek Golf Course Saturday, and leads the tournament at seven-under par.
"All in all it was a good day," says Weaver. "I was pretty pleased with what I was able to do. I kept it in play, and when I did make mistakes, I was able to limit them. You got a lot of people up there, so it's more just a matter of again, me worrying about myself, rather than me wondering what somebody else is going to do."
The Orange County alum has a three stroke lead over Richard Morelle, who shot a 68 on the second day.
Matt Wade and Philip Mahone are tied for third place at two under par.
Weaver, Morelle ,and Mahone are grouped together for the third and final day of the tournament.
They tee off on Hole One at 9:30 Sunday morning.
Weaver says his familiarity with the course has been very beneficial.
"I've played here a thousand times," says Weaver, "and today was just 1,001. Tomorrow is going to be a 1,002. It's the same stuff. Put it in play, put it on the green, make the putt. There's definitely a lot of good players and I think you saw that a lot of people went lower today than they did yesterday, so its going to be a fun day tomorrow."
