Community Volunteers Help Give New Learning Center Daycare a Makeover

Posted: Updated:
MADISON COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

A facility that will house Madison County's only all day state licensed childcare center is getting a makeover thanks to volunteers from the

community. Dozens of people showed up at the mesa learning center Saturday to wash walls, pull weeds, and paint.

They spent about six hours cleaning up the facility. The new center is slated to open in august and will provide childcare during the day and after school.

Childcare Director, Mariel Lewis said, "It was just the cleanup that needed to be done. There were no major repairs of any kind and so the actual cleanup being done almost in one day essentially is a big step to seeing it be open in a way."

The learning center is getting some help from a group of scouts who plan to spruce up the playground later this month.

The center's four classrooms will offer all day care to children six weeks old to school age.
