Charlottesville League Hosts Little League Baseball Tournament

Posted: Updated:

Charlottesville's Northside Cal Ripken Baseball League is hosting the Virginia State Babe Ruth League State Championship tournament Thursday through Monday.

Nine little league teams from across the state are competing at the Hollymead Elementary School and Sutherland Middle School fields.

This is the first time the Northside League has hosted the tournament. It was chosen from eight other eligible leagues in the district.

"In all the times that our active volunteers have been involved here this is the first state tournament that we've been able to host. So we're all really excited about it and we're hoping this is going to be a great event for everybody,” said Alice Riccabona, tournament director.

The winner of the tournament will advance to the Babe Ruth Regional Tournament in Lewisburg, Tennessee, the following weekend.
