Staunton Launches ‘Maps and Apps’ Site

Posted: Updated:

It just got a whole lot easier for the people of Staunton to get the information they need for commonly used government resources.

The city is launching a new “maps and apps” website. It's a one-stop shop for government interaction. You can find applications linking directly to schools, trash pickup, real estate information, and elections.

Staunton's geographic information system coordinator John Brady says it's easier to use than other local GIS sites. "It is more point-and-click. It is more intuitive. The tools are not so complicated to understand. The terminology is not so complicated to understand, that you can come in, find what you're looking for and get out,” Brady said.

Right now there are 20 applications on the site, but the city is working on new apps for the trolley system and parks and recreation.
