Wednesday, the city of Charlottesville is considering a proposal from the Virginia Department of Transportation regarding the Hillsdale Drive Project. The project aims to extend Hillsdale Drive in order to improve access to existing and future businesses in the area as well as provide an alternative to the Route 29 corridor for local traffic.
"In terms of the administration and management of the contracts, VDOT would only be dealing with one potential contract group,” said VDOT spokesperson Lou Hatter. "It offers some benefits and some efficiencies in terms of scheduling the work, coordinating the work.”
If Charlottesville agrees, the administration of the Hillsdale Drive project, which the city has been planning for years, would transfer to VDOT.
