Charlottesville Man Takes Second Place in Cheese Monger Invitational

Posted: Updated:

For the second year in a row, a Charlottesville man has claimed second place in a national competition for cheese making skills.

Nadjeeb Chouaf from Flora Artisanal Cheese competed in the New York cheese monger invitational in Long Island City.

The competition tested the knowledge and skill level of 50 of the country's top cheese-makers.

1,000 people judged the top 10 competitor's cheese wrapping, cutting, and food pairing talents.

The social atmosphere keeps many participants coming back every year.

“Getting to see all these people who you might know or you know through Facebook and everybody getting together and sharing their love of cheese,” said Chouaf.

Flora Artisanal Cheese will celebrate one year in business this August. It's located inside the Milli Joe coffee shop on Preston Avenue in Charlottesville.
