UPDATE 7/8/14: According to the Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office, the victim of the car fire that was reported on July 3 on Rising Sun Road has been positively identified as Brandon Chad Bruce, 35, of Palmyra. According to police, Bruce resided at the dwelling where the car was located.

Palmyra, Va. – The Fluvanna County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suspicious vehicle fire on Rising Sun Road in Palmyra.
At Approximately 1:00am this morning, Fluvanna sheriff’s deputies and county fire officials were called to the scene of a vehicle fire in the 1200 block of Rising Sun Road. While extinguishing the blaze, fire officials determined that human remains were inside the vehicle.
The remains are currently at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for analysis. The body has not yet been positively identified.
The Fluvanna Sheriff’s Office is investigating the incident with the assistance of Virginia State Police Arson/Bomb Unit.
