A popular burger chain is gone from its location on Charlottesville’s downtown mall. Five Guys served up its last burger on Friday and closed its doors for good.
Bill McKechnie, the owner of the downtown location, says the lease was up and he decided not to renew.
“We have gotten to know a lot of great people and we have a lot of great customers over our eight years here, and again we are sorry to be shutting down here, but look forward to serving them at our Barracks store and Hollymead Town Center as well,” said McKechnie.
McKechnie says it will be replaced by a clothing store.
