Staunton Parks and Recreation is encouraging people to connect with nature this summer.
Each July, the National Recreation and Park Association (NRPA) encourages people to get outside and this year Staunton is on board for Out Is In, a campaign to get people to do something outside that they might not normally do.
According to the NRPA nearly three in 10 adults don't spend time outside on a daily basis, and this campaign hopes to change that.
"We have Wi-Fi in all our parks, so you could just make small changes like going to answer emails in the park or holding a meeting outside. That would be great too. We have disc golf here at Montgomery Hall. We have basketball courts, volleyball courts, geocaching - so some other great opportunities to get outside in the park,” said Staunton Parks and Recreation manager Claire Richardson.
Recreation staff will visit the parks regularly and if they catch you outside you might just get a free water bottle.
