ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va (WVIR) -

Construction resumed Monday to remove sediment and debris from an Albemarle County pond.

Workers at Four Seasons Pond are increasing the pond's depth and reducing the summer algae blooms. In the next few weeks accumulated sediment that disturbs the vegetation and wildlife will be dried out and removed.

Forty trucks will enter and exit the site each day. Drivers are advised to use caution.

"All this activity means progress and the more we can do every day the quicker we'll get out of here,” said Greg Harper, water resources manager.

Officials also say the improvements will help Albemarle County reduce pollution discharge into state waters.

They expect that the work will be completed by August 30.
