UPDATE: According to a Harris Teeter representative, the Harris Teeter in Crozet will reopen on Wednesday, July 2 at noon.

Crozet's Harris Teeter store is closed Monday after a smoky fire that brought business to a standstill overnight.

At 2 a.m., fire crews responded to the store on Radford Lane to find a blaze they say started in a storage area inside the store and spread to the roof. Everyone inside was evacuated and no injuries were reported, though one person was treated for smoke inhalation.

Monday, the store’s employees are working hard to get things back to normal, cleaning and restocking affected areas with new products. Harris Teeter management will decide when the store will reopen but for now they are providing some compensation for customers the store will have to turn away right before a holiday weekend.

"They are still cleaning up from it, so I got a $10 off coupon for the other store and so I’ll go there and get that bottle of celebration champagne,” said customer Dianne Lloyd.

Customers can use the coupons they receive at the Harris Teeter location on Barracks Road.

The fire marshal's office estimates $25,000 in property loss due to the fire.

The store will be closed Tuesday as well.
