The Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad is offering free CPR training Saturday, and sign-up spots are going fast.
There will be four classes, an hour and a half each, at the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad building. The classes will begin at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m., and organizers are expecting a total of more than 80 people.
One EMT says the goal is simple: it's about saving lives.
“As soon as someone goes into cardiac arrest and collapses, we want people to act immediately, and activate the 911 system but the faster you act and start pumping on the chest, the more likelihood of them to survive,” said Logan Parker, a Stuarts Draft EMT.
There are still spots available in the 6 p.m. time slot for those hoping to sign up.
This is the first time the Stuarts Draft Rescue Squad has held this type of event.
