The future of Crozet's old Barnes lumber yard was up for discussion again in Albemarle County Thursday night as the Crozet Community Advisory Council held a special meeting to put all their concerns on the table.
Milestone Partners has been working with the group to finalize plans for redeveloping the 20-acre site. But council is still worried about moving forward with the proposed project because of several issues.
Members met in the Meadows Conference Room to revisit how the developer has addressed their ideas so far. They reviewed rezoning and special use permit requests for the Barnes Lumber property. The group also outlined the core topics of concern including traffic, parking, connectivity with current Crozet businesses, and phasing of residential and commercial spaces. The council is also worried growth will only add to Crozet's traffic, stormwater, and water and sewer problems.
They are planning to meet again next Wednesday to continue the conversation.
