Traffic Signal Installation to Cause Traffic Delays in Charlottesville
Traffic signal installation on Route 250
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) -
The Route 250 Bypass Interchange project is in full swing. Various intersections across the city of Charlottesville are getting some new features which may cause some traffic delays for drivers.
From 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Charlottesville police officers will be directing traffic at the intersection of Harris Street and McIntire Road. Workers are installing new traffic signals to replace the existing ones.
"On of our priorities is to keep the lane of traffic open to those businesses right there. So throughout this entire project, allied lane will remain open and people will be able to get back into those businesses to be sure that they can patronize them if that's where they're going,” said Miriam Dickler, spokesperson for the city of Charlottesville.
The speed limit around construction is 25 miles per hour and police are advising drivers to use caution.
City officials say that work will go on next week but will stop at noon on Thursday, July 3 to allow for smooth holiday traffic during Fourth of July weekend.
