If you're looking for a job, maybe a postal route is for you. Applications are now available for jobs in Charlottesville.
The United States Postal Service is holding a job fair Thursday as part of its efforts to recruit new carriers.
Positions are available for city carrier assistants, starting at $15.30 an hour, and rural carrier associates, which start at $16.26 an hour. These jobs do require someone who can be flexible with scheduling, meet deadlines, and be honest and reliable.
"The ideal candidate would be somebody that comes in positive, any given day. It's going to change what they're going to be doing, so they have to be willing to adapt to the change that's going to happen that very moment,” said Ada Cobbs, Charlottesville postmaster.
The job fair is from 9 a.m. to noon Thursday, at Charlottesville’s main post office on Seminole Trail. Human resources representatives will be present to help with applications.
They are part-time positions requiring flexibility, and may or may not lead to careers.
