UVA Fans Watch Game 1 of CWS Finals at Paramount Theater
University of Virginia baseball fans who couldn't make the long trip out to Omaha are still cheering on the Hoos here at home in Charlottesville.
All are hoping to see the team take home Monday night's win - one step closer to a first-ever College World Series championship.
The Paramount Theater has been pretty busy hosting sports fans for the past couple weeks. After every seat was filled at the Sunday night for the United States versus Portugal World Cup game, the staff made a last-minute decision to show the UVA College World Series games.
People of all ages grabbed seats at the venue to show their support for UVA in the team's first College World Series finals game against Vanderbilt.
Snacks and drinks were sold throughout the night at the concession stand.
The Paramount boasts the largest high-def screen in central Virginia. Some families say it's the best spot in town to watch the team in action.
“It's amazing to me how well as a team they play together, and don't get rattled. If they lose a game, it's like just move on. I liked after they beat Ole Miss watching it on - alright let's get the next one. It wasn't like let's pile on and be happy, ecstatic. It's just like let's go get it,” said John Wharton, UVA baseball fan.
Fans got to enjoy the game for free thanks to support from Virginia National Bank.
The Paramount Theater will be showing tomorrow night’s game. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with first pitch set for 8 p.m.
If the College World Series finals goes into its third game, the theater will host another viewing event on Wednesday.
