SPCA Hosts Rabies and Microchip Clinic for Pet Owners

Posted: Updated:

The Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA offered pet owners a much needed service Sunday.

Staff say about 150 families came out to get their pets an annual rabies shot or microchip implant.

The clinic service is offered four times a year through the SPCA, and is generally cheaper than most vets.

Staff says it helps pets stay healthy while also keeping them out of the shelter.

Associate veterinarian, Anna Sims says "It's a great service for the community, not only as a protection against rabies, but also in reuniting lost pets with their owners. It decreases our numbers here in the shelter as well as the families that they go back to are just ecstatic when they have them back that much quicker."

New this year, the SPCA is also offering the affordable services by online appointment.
