The Virginia baseball team will play Mississippi in the College World Series Friday at eight o'clock, after the Rebels eliminated TCU 6-4 Thursday night in Omaha.
UVa defeated Ole Miss 2-1 on the strength of a Mike Papi RBI in the bottom of the 9th in their first meeting in the CWS.
A win by the Cavaliers would put them in the College World Series Championship Series.
Sophomore right handed pitcher Josh Sborz will get the start against the Rebels Friday.
"I'm pretty excited," says Sborz. "I'm going to treat it like any other day. I'm not going to try to make any extra pressure to myself or my teammates. I'm just going to try to keep it simple."
Virginia has the advantage with a 2-0 record in the tournament.
Junior infielder Branden Cogswell says, "They got to beat us twice. No matter who it is, we're going to get their best, and I think we're prepared for that. We had a good practice today, and we're excited for tomorrow."
Sborz adds, "These extra days off that we got from beating TCU is really good for our pitching staff. It's a good mental break from just playing baseball every other day. Tomorrow is going to be a big day for us, but we're going to be ready for it."
