Traffic Delays along Park Street during Traffic Signal Installation

Posted: Updated:
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va (WVIR) - Two years’ worth of work has been done at the interchange where the Route 250 Bypass will connect with the Meadowcreek Parkway near Park Street. This week, crews are working on another phase of the Route 250 Bypass project.

Wednesday marked the first day of installation work for new traffic signals that will help drivers easily access ramps leading to the Route 250 Bypass. Drivers might see traffic delays along Park Street through Friday.

Charlottesville police officers are directing traffic for the rest of the week at the intersection. Work will be done from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. daily, in hopes of preventing too much congestion during rush hour. City officials do not anticipate any major delays.

“We do hope to have work out of those rush-hour hours. So this will be happening during the middle of the day, so hopefully this won't be impacting too many folks on their morning or evening commutes,” said Miriam Dickler, spokesperson for the city of Charlottesville.

The speed limit around the construction is 25 miles per hour, and police are advising motorists to use caution in the area.
