Young Volunteers Give Back to Help Renew Charlottesville

Posted: Updated:
A crew of teenagers is helping create gardens for students to dig around in at one Charlottesville elementary school.

More than 50 volunteers shoveled and tilled the gardens at Burley Moran Elementary school during a day of service called "Renew C-ville."

These middle and high school students built a shed and uprooted the landscape to make way for new gardens that the kids can use when they return in the fall.

Student gardener, Maya Turner said, “It shows them that with a lot of work, a lot of team work you can make something really beautiful.”

The volunteers came together from two different youth groups and countless different schools, with the common goal of giving back.
