Goalie Al Luna made two saves in the penalty kick session
LYNCHBURG, Va (WVIR) -
Western Albemarle won its first state title since 1996 Saturday, beating defending champ Blacksburg 7-6 on penalty kicks in the VHSL 3A boys soccer state championship game at Liberty University in Lynchburg.
Forrest White scored the game-winning goal in the sudden death portion of penalty kick's after a scoreless overtime.
The goal was a second chance for the Warriors' senior, who missed a PK in the golden goal portion of overtime, which would have won the game for Western.
White says, "I just know I'll remember this forever. My last memory of high school. It's a great way to end it."
