CASPCA Holds Adoption Special for Overweight Cats

Posted: Updated:

The Charlottesville Albemarle SPCA is starting a special program to try and find homes for some overweight pets.

For the whole month of June, all cats that weigh more than 10 pounds can be yours for just $5. The adoption special is in honor of National Adopt a "Shelter Cat" Month.

SPCA Marketing Manager Lisa Lane says cats that are overweight do better in a home environment because they have more room to exercise.

"We do our best to get all of our cats out and give them exercise here, but cats always do better in a home environment where they're more comfortable,” said Lane.

All of the cats come spayed and neutered, have their appropriate vaccines, and have a microchip in them if they get lost.
