The University of Virginia honored some of its employees with a walk down the red carpet Monday night.
People celebrating service anniversaries anywhere from 25 to 56 years had a chance to walk down the carpet at John Paul Jones Arena, as lots of other employees cheered them on.
Inside the arena it was a fifties theme, from music to the food, and even old cars were on display.
“The fifties kind of theme has been uplifting, and we've got old cars here, the diner and if people stick around we have root beer floats for dessert,” said Susan Carkeek, vice president of UVA human resources.
In all, UVA honored more than 200 people Monday night. The cars on display were donated by the Piedmont Region Antique Auto Club of America.
