Craft Fair Raises Money for Allergy Research at UVA Medical Center
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
Some creative kids put their talents to work Saturday in Charlottesville for a good cause.
Panera bread in the Barracks Road Shopping Center sponsored a craft fair, where kids sold their homemade gifts to benefit allergy research at the University of Virginia Medical Center.
The event kicks off a two week fundraising effort at Panera where the store will be raising money for the research.
Allie Munsey, Panera marketing manager said, "We'll be selling friendship bracelets, lemonades, and grilled cheeses, all of which the proceeds will be donated to the UVA pediatric food allergy research, so the kids here today are helping us kick off with their home made crafts that they're selling for their friends with food allergies."
Panera staff members also now have special tools they use to prepare food for customers who have allergies.
