City says Construction at Rt. 250 & McIntire Rd on Schedule
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) -
The massive interchange project on Route 250 at McIntire Road is on schedule. The intersection looks like a mess right now, but with just a year to go the city says construction will be done on time.
The Virginia Department of Transportation wrapped up its work last summer on McIntire Road Extended. That portion cost $3.3 million to complete less than half a mile of road. In the end, McIntire Road Extended will be connected to the interchange.
The $20.1 million project will put a diamond style interchange at the intersection.
"Construction on the 250 interchange is going really well. The project is on schedule and things are getting done. We know that it's a lot of construction and a lot to keep up with but we do expect that it will be completed on schedule,” said Miriam Dickler, Charlottesville spokesperson.
McIntire Road Extended and the interchange are expected to be open in July 2015.
Businesses in this area hope the project stays on schedule or gets ahead of schedule.
