The Falcon Club held its annual spring sports awards banquet at Elks Lodge #389 Wednesday night.

Monticello senior Sean Byrnes won the Hugh Bingler Scholarship baseball award, while Albemarle senior runner Savannah Maxwell took home the Skip Kinnier Memorial Scholarship.

Maxwell works closely with the Carson Raymond Foundation, and set up a Citizenship Award for 5th graders at elementary schools in Albemarle County.

She's looking to expand the program in the future, and will be attending UVa in the fall.

Byrnes will play baseball at Elon next year.

The pitcher is an Eagle Scout, and had a 4.5 GPA.

Byrnes says, "I think it was great, because it wasn't solely about baseball. It was about grades, and citizenship, and I really strived to have great grades. I think that helps, and it obviously paid off tonight, receiving this award."

Maxwell adds, "It is awesome to be honored as a well-rounded person as well. For character, and academics, and academics, because it makes me feel like what i'm doing in good, and I hope I can carry that on to UVa, and continue to be a well-rounded person, because I think that's a really cool aspect of this award."
