Albemarle Students Build Climbing Wall for Police Recruits

Posted: Updated:

Albemarle County police recruits will climb over an obstacle built by high school students. The construction technology class at Monticello High School put together a wall for the Police Department to use for officer candidates’ agility tests.

Officer candidates will encounter the six-foot-high challenge to pull themselves over at the beginning of the test. The new wall will replace one the department has used for 15 years.

“It's pretty cool we get to use our skills to help out the Police Department,” said Monticello High School sophomore Cory Forloines.

Monticello's school resource officer coordinated the project with the class.

Police say the students saved the county money by building the wall so the department didn’t have to buy one for its recruitment course.
