Three students graduated Wednesday from a new program offered through Piedmont Virginia Community College's workforce services division.
PVCC partnered with the Virginia School of Metal to offer a nationally recognized certification program. All three students who entered the program this year passed, and one of them, Estovan Mora, is already working in the industry.
“The certification, it actually helped me get my job, so just telling them I was taking the course for the certification, it put me ahead of the pack."
To achieve the certification, each student has to complete a weld that is then x-rayed to guarantee its quality.
