Suspect in Antonio Washington Murder Arrested

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (WVIR) - Charlottesville police have arrested a suspect in the city’s first murder of the year.  Taneak Turner was arrested Monday in connection with the murder of 30-year-old Antonio Washington.

Washington was found stabbed to death on May 10 at the Al Hamraa restaurant in the Ix building in Charlottesville.

Police say 19-year-old Taneak Turner was arrested on a first-degree murder charge Monday in Spotsylvania County. The U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office assisted with the arrest.
Investigators say Turner was also involved in a shooting incident that occurred in the parking lot outside the restaurant. 

A second suspect, 21-year-old Antwan Roberts, was arrested and charged with principal in the second-degree to first-degree murder on May 29. Police say Roberts did not commit the murder but was present at the scene and helped Turner.

Both Turner and Roberts are being held without bond at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail.

The Charlottesville Police Department is pleased to announce the arrest of Taneak Turner for the murder of Antonio Washington.

Turner was arrested this morning in Spotsylvania County without incident.  The Charlottesville Police Department wishes to thank the United States Marshal’s Service and the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office for their assistance with this arrest.

Turner is being held at the Albemarle Charlottesville Regional Jail without bond.
